Located in Eastern Mongolia, Dornod province.
The site comprises large steppes, marshy marshes, rivers, and lakes, and is located in a basin produced by tectonic and volcanic activity. With many endemic or uncommon plants, it supports a high species diversity. There are 260 bird species that use the location for staging, nesting, or wintering, including six crane species, two of which are endangered.
