The exquisite Buddhist temple museum is nestled between skyscrapers in downtown Ulaanbaatar. Luvsan Haidav Choijin Lama, the state oracle and Bogd Khan’s brother, lived there. The monastery’s construction began in 1904 and was completed four years later. It was closed in 1938 and was about to be demolished if it hadn’t been spared in 1942 to serve as a museum showing former ‘feudal’ methods. The temple is no longer in operation, but the monastery is being used as a museum. There are five temples within the ground. Each one features exquisitely sculpted and ornately painted statues, masks, and a plethora of rare religious objects.
