Mountains, cliffs, swift streams, rivers, lakes, extinct volcanoes, verdant woods, and meadows, where long-haired yaks and horses graze, abound in Khorgo Uul. Taiga forest, transition between taiga forest and grassland, and mountain forest steppe are the natural zones found around Khorgo.
Khorgo Mountain is an extinct volcano located in the eastern section of Lake Terkhiin Tsagaan, an awe-inspiringly gorgeous lake with pure and clear water. The volcano crater is 200 meters wide and 100 meters deep, and it is surrounded by woods at the back and around the opening. There are numerous basaltic “gers” produced after the cooling of lava to the south of Khorgo; some of the “gers” have gates and upper holes and exceed 1.7 m in height.
