Cycle to Gorkhi - Terelj National Park
(4 days)
Detailed description

Gorkhi-Terelj National Park & Khentii Mountains
After a 2-hour drive east of UB, we will arrive in the Khentii Mountains, where the landscape consists of lush, forested hillsides and spectacular granite cliffs. This beautiful valley is home to many nomads, who can be seen grazing yaks, cattle, goats, and horses.
We’ll go on a sightseeing tour of Terelj National Park. The Genghis Khan Monument will be our first stop. The Genghis Khan Monument is a massive aluminium sculpture of Genghis Khan riding a horse. Climb to the top of the monument for a panoramic view of the surrounding city.
The Aryaval Monastery, Turtle Rock and a small meditation monastery are located at the foot of the mountain.
By lunchtime, we’ll have arrived at a local family and will begin cycling for a couple of hours through lush meadows towards the Tuul River valley, where we’ll set up our first camp. Then we’ll have dinner on the banks of the Tuul River.

Cycling to Gunjiin Sum, Temple
Princess Monastery, also known as Gunjiin Sum, surrounded by lush forest, this was once a massive monastery founded by a Mongolian lord in honor of his wife in the 18th century. Sadly, the main temple and a portion of the wall are all that is left today.
We will cycle along the base of the mountain ranges; we’ll travel into the valley. This incredible two-day trip will take us across tundra, the moose’s natural habitat. The landscape is characteristic of Siberia. We’ll make our way up the mountain through thick woodland home to deer, wolves, moose, and bears.

Cycling in Khentii Mountain Range
On mountain bikes, we’ll continue to explore the area’s beauty today. Our journey will take us through deep mountain valleys that are lush, green, and brimming with wild flowers and plants. The valleys are encircled by high, heavily forested mountains and erosional rocky formations. We’ll cycle through a magical landscape of forested hills, granite formations, and broad fertile valleys peppered with Gers. Many Gers of nomads are peacefully going about their business, caring for their animals, and contributing to nature’s perfection.
