This place is famous for its spectacular landscape, unique cultures and traditions of ethnic minorities and excellent wilderness. The fascinating snow-capped mountains of Khoridol Saridag and Sayan Mountain Ranges, many pure and untouched mountain rivers and lakes make this region incomparable to anywhere else in the world. Darkhad Depression is a mystical landscape located about 50 km westward of Khovsgol lake behind walls of mountains roughly the size of Khovsgol Lake. In ancient time it was glacial lake now a plain of prairie, forest and about 300 scattered lakes. The area is one of Mongolia best-watered regions. Its lakes and rivers provide much of Mongolia’s commercial fishing market with fishes. White carp, trout are the favoured ones. The region is as well one of Mongolia’s shamanism stronghold. Tsaatan(Dukha) people inhabit the valley and pursue their traditional lifestyle.
