Tamir River

east mongolia

The park is a small protected area on the banks of the Kherlen River 130 kilometers south-east of Ulaanbaatar for the conservation of globally vulnerable species. Even though it is only a tiny region, it has a wide variety of habitats. The reserve’s four distinct geological sections are made up of steppes, tiny lakes, rivers, streams, and marshes. The park is flanked by the massive Baits and Berkh mountains and is home to a variety of unique animals, including argali wild mountain sheep.
The Ikh-Gun and Ayaga lakes provide a haven for birds, including the Siberian white crane, white-napped crane, hooded crane, cinereous vulture, and swan goose, all of which are globally threatened.
