The Khar Bukh Balgas are a city and fortification ruin. The ruin was once the home of Tsogt Khuntaij, a descendent of Genghis Khan who lived there in the 17th century.
A ruin was discovered 12 km west of Dashinchilen sum in Bulgan aimag in the nineteenth century, and research was conducted in 1934, 1948-1949, and the ruins were unearthed  in 1970. The ruins of this city may be traced back to two different historical periods. The first is the Kidan dynasty, which ruled from the ninth to the eleventh centuries. To construct the city’s fence, earth was hardened lumpy and placed in a rectangle shape. It had four major doors, each measuring 0.5×0.5 kilometers and positioned on four sides. The ruins of the city’s ditches were discovered on all four sides. Two main streets, one to the west and one to the east, split the castle’s area. There are dwelling houses (some with distinctive fences) divided by two main roadways, one oriented west and the other oriented east. While doing research on the city’s ruins, the researcher discovered potteries and containers dating from the IX century that are identical to Uigur souvenirs, as well as vases and containers whose decoration was popular among those who lived along the Black River and the East Sea.
The main foundation for linking this ruin to the Kidan dynasty is pottery discovered in the Black Bull’s ruin, as well as a vase on which Kidan scripts were written and discovered in the Chin mountain’s ruin. Stone buildings were built in the city later, towards the beginning of the seventeenth century. This one was made up of various structures with well-built ramparts, and the manner the stone and defenses were laid out was comparable to that of the XVII century fortifications. And they were constructed in a Tibetan manner. This location was founded by “Nomgoi prince” Tsogt Taij, according to locals.
