Volcanic eruptions created Khuisiin Naiman Nuur (Eight Lakes) centuries ago, covering 11,500 hectares around the lakes in Ovorkhangai Province to the southwest of the Khangai Mountain Range and its surrounding area. It’s surrounded by extinct volcanoes and towering mountain summits. The valley, as its name suggests, is home to a slew of small lakes connected by rivers. Fresh water flows down from the mountains into the lakes.
