Eej Khairkhan Mountain

Eej Khairkhan
Eej Khairkhan

west Mongolia

Eej Khairkhan Uul is located in the southwestern portion of Mongolia, approximately north of the ‘Gobi A’ National Park, between the Tsogt and Altai soums of the Gobi-Altai aimag. In 1992, this region was designated as a protected area. Under Parliament Resolution No. 26, it was added to the category of “Cultural and Historical Sites” in 1995, safeguarding 22,475 hectares. The nine green-framed stone pots on the western side of Eej Khairkhan Peak, which are set aside the deep rocky strip near the solitary mountain, shut off from the Gobi Middle Mountains, pique the interest of nature enthusiasts and conservators. When the first pot is full, it generates a small waterfall by spilling the extra water into the second pot through the 40-50 cm long stone threshold.
