Khurgan Lake, which is located near Khoton, is another lake. Those two lakes are connected by a stream and fed by the Altai Mountains’ rivers and streams. The lake gives rise to the Khovd River. The topography in this area varies greatly, from the wooded lakeshores to the traditional open steppe on the northern side of the lakes. The snow-capped Altai Mountain Chain may be seen to the south of the lake, in the direction of China. The scenery surrounding the lakes is breathtaking and beautiful. The ascent of Mt. Ikh Turgen (3,507m) is stunning.
