Manzushir Khiid monastery is located about 40 kilometers from Ulaanbaatar city. The monastery, which was founded in 1733 and formerly housed 350 monks, has over 20 temples. During the Stalinist purges of 1937, it was tragically reduced to ruins. The main temple has recently been repaired and made into a museum, while the rest of the area’s structures are in ruins. Manzushir Khiid looks out over a lovely valley with streams, pine, birch, and cedar trees, and granite rocks.
