Uureg Lake (1,426 m) is located along the Olgii and Ulaangom route, close to the Russian border and Siberia. It’s a vast, gorgeous, slightly salty lake surrounded by majestic mountains and some snow-capped peaks up to 3000 meters or higher. The valley’s mouth, which leads into the lake, is bordered by summer gers of nomads. The fishing and hiking options are excellent, and the location is ideal for camping. Animal-themed rock drawings can be found in the gorge or on the Tsagaan River, which is a western tributary of the Uureg Nuur.
